Members of ACT represent a diverse coalition of environmental, public interest, consumer rights, and faith-based organizations dedicated to enhancing our state. Although our approaches and strategies for addressing critical climate and environmental issues may differ, we share common ground in several key areas.   • Texas leads the nation in greenhouse gas emissions, presenting significant risks to public health and environmental quality. We must safeguard the air we breathe and the water we drink and use by holding polluters accountable and reducing emissions.

  • A clean energy grid is vital for protecting Texans' health, our environment, and Texas's long-term prosperity. Expanding clean energy sources like wind and solar cuts the air and water pollution that harms Texas communities, while also enhancing grid stability and safeguarding Texans during extreme weather. Additionally, investing in energy efficiency measures can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, keep energy costs down, and further accelerate our transition away from fossil fuels.

  • Low-income and communities of color are disproportionately impacted by environmental hazards and climate change. We must ensure that all communities, particularly fenceline populations, have equal access to clean air, water, and a healthy environment.

  • Texas continues to witness climate change in action through record-breaking temperatures, dwindling water supplies, extreme weather events, and rising sea levels. Urgent action is needed to combat climate change and adapt to its impacts.

  • Texas is known for its rich biodiversity and vast regions that make our state unique. By protecting our land and wildlife, we not only promote environmental stewardship but also enhance the quality of life for current and future generations.
